At a glance

๐Ÿ”’
Your data stays on your device All flight records, documents, and settings are stored locally using on-device storage (IndexedDB). Nothing is uploaded to any server. The only outbound traffic is web-font and map-tile requests โ€” see Section 4 for the full list.
๐Ÿšซ
No tracking. No analytics. Logbird contains no advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or behavioural tracking of any kind.
๐Ÿ‘ค
No account required You do not create an account. No name, email address, or personal identifier is collected or transmitted to us.
๐Ÿ“ค
You control your exports You can export your logbook at any time as JSON, CSV, XLSX, or PDF. Exports go directly to your device's Files app or via iOS Share Sheet โ€” not to us.

1. Overview

Logbird ("the app") is a personal aviation logbook application for iOS. It is designed for commercial and private pilots to record flight hours, track regulatory currency, monitor fatigue time limits, and manage licence documents.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is handled, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Data we do not collect

Logbird does not collect, transmit, or store on any external server:

We have no servers, no database, and no back-end. We literally cannot access your data โ€” it never reaches us.

3. Data stored on your device

The app stores the following data locally on your device only, using WebKit's IndexedDB and localStorage APIs within the WKWebView sandbox:

Flight logbook data

Crew member information

When you log flights, you may enter the names of other crew members (captain, first officer, relief pilots, cabin crew) and personal notes about them. This information is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Crew names and notes may be included in exports (JSON, CSV, XLSX) unless you enable the "Exclude crew names & notes" option when exporting. You are responsible for handling exported files that contain other people's personal information in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

App settings and preferences

Document tracker

All of this data is contained within the app's private sandboxed storage. It cannot be read by other apps and is deleted when you delete Logbird from your device.

4. Network requests

Logbird bundles all JavaScript libraries (Chart.js, SheetJS, jsPDF, Leaflet) locally within the app. The only network requests the app makes are:

Web fonts

The app uses system fonts only โ€” San Francisco (SF Pro Text), the iOS default UI font, with SF Mono for monospaced text and New York for serif text. These fonts ship with iOS and are never fetched from a third party. No font requests are made to any external service, including Google Fonts.

Map tile imagery

When you open the Map or Route Analytics pages, the app loads map tile images from a third-party tile server:

These requests transmit your device's IP address to the tile server, which may allow approximate geolocation inference. No flight data, user identity, or app-specific information is included in these requests. Tiles are cached locally by the app for offline use after initial load.

CARTO is the tile-hosting provider; OpenStreetMap is credited as the underlying open-data source but is not contacted directly. Their respective privacy policies apply:

If you do not use the Map or Route Analytics features, the only outbound traffic is the one-time font load described above. The rest of the app operates fully offline.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you choose to back up your logbook via iCloud, data is transmitted to Apple's iCloud servers under your Apple ID. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Logbird does not operate any intermediate servers โ€” the sync is directly between your device and Apple's infrastructure.

5. Data export and sharing

The app provides export functionality so you can back up and move your logbook data:

Exports are delivered directly to your device through the iOS Share Sheet (Files app, AirDrop, email, etc.). Logbird does not transmit export files to any server. You choose where your exports go.

Exports may contain crew member names from your flight records. You can enable "Exclude crew names & notes" in the export screen to strip all third-party personal data before sharing.

6. Roster import

The app can import roster data from ICS calendar files or pasted roster text. This data is processed entirely on-device and stored in local app storage. Roster files are not uploaded to any external service.

7. Children's privacy

Logbird is intended for use by licensed pilots and aviation professionals. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no data is collected by us from any user, this policy applies equally to all age groups.

8. Your data, your control

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are in complete control at all times:

There is no account to delete and no server-side data for us to erase โ€” because we never had it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we ever update this Privacy Policy, the revised version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change. For material changes, we will notify users through an in-app notice on the next app launch.

Given the fundamental nature of Logbird (no server-side data collection, only the limited outbound traffic disclosed in Section 4), any changes to data practices would require explicit user consent and an app update reviewed by Apple.
